2023年德州台灣生物科技協會年會將在月底(10/28-29)於休士頓的Baylor College of Medicine舉辦

今年的TTBA年會主題將橫跨學術研究端的轉譯醫學價值,以及生醫博士在美國產業端的多元出路。歡迎舊雨新知來與我們一起探索生命科學領域的無限可能性,共同促進台灣和德州之間的生物科技合作與交流!


以下是兩天年會主題及講者的簡短介紹:


⭐⭐10/28/2022 (Sat) 11:30-21:00 Time zone: CDT

⭐Topic I: From Lab to Clinic: Cancer Therapies Redifined

第一天的Topic I,我們先邀請到了駐休士頓台北經濟文化辦事處TECO in Houston的科技組組長Dr. Pin-Chuan (PC) Chen來與我們分享他在台灣擔任教職的經歷,以及跨學科研究的重要性,包含微製造在外科手術模擬器的應用、3D列印在藥物檢測平台的應用。我們也邀請到了UTHealth Houston的Dr. Dung-Fang Lee與我們分享他在病人的誘導性多功能幹細胞(Patient-Derived iPSCs)的最新研究成果,包含如何透過建立Patient-Derived iPSCs的轉譯研究平台來探討p53突變在癌症裡的作用機制。本場次也將邀請MD Anderson Cancer Center的Dr. Yuan-Hung Lo與我們分享他如何設計出開創性的ARID1A-deficient 3D類器官模型,並運用CRISPR/Cas9進行基因編輯來研究腸胃道癌症的致癌機制,千萬不要錯過這個向3D類器官模型專家學習的大好機會!

⭐Topic II: Bridging the Gap: Taiwanese Professionals in US Biotech Navigating Cross-Functional Communication

第一天的Topic II,我們邀請到了三位業界的博士為大家分享不同的職業出路。 禮來藥廠(Eli Lilly and Company)的醫藥學術專員(MSL)Dr. Carol Chuang將介紹醫藥事務部門是如何擔任藥廠和醫院之間的重要橋樑。 Crown Bioscience的Business Development Director Dr. Min-Shan Chen將深入探討Contract Research Organization(CRO)公司在生物科技產業的關鍵角色,以及Business Development部門在促進公司間合作中的重要性。在C2N Dianostic擔任R&D Principal Scientist的Dr. Shin-Cheng Tzeng,將介紹如何利用質譜儀生物標記物的分析技術推進阿茲罕默症的診斷和治療,以及他的專業知識如何吸引生技研發公司的關注。

⭐Topic III: See the opportunities: Explore career paths across diverse industrial job functions

第二天的Topic III,我們邀請到三位講者分享各自在不同領域和職業階段的珍貴經歷。面對繁忙的學業和研究,如何同時培養技能並充實個人履歷呢?畢業後即將進入職場,如何在眾多競爭者中贏得青睞?這次我們邀請到在CBSET擔任Study Director的Jack Guo來分享他的職業經歷,以及在Appia Bio 擔任scientist 的Robin Yao來與我們分享如何一畢業迅速吸引生技公司的目光,成功攬獲理想職,「美國生技藥廠咖啡廳」的主持人Eric Peng也將會分享他如何透過職涯轉換與人生歷練成為生技藥廠的武林盟主~ 對不同行業的文化感到好奇?想探索實驗以外的職業機會?那千萬不要錯過演講結束後的panel discussion唷!

The 2023 TTBA Annual Meeting is just around the corner! 

It will be held at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston at the end of this month (10/28-29). Early bird registration is ending soon, so make sure to click on the link to register. This year's TTBA Annual Meeting will delve into the translational medical value of academic research and the diverse career paths for biomedical Ph.D. holders in the U.S. We welcome everyone to join us to explore the limitless possibilities in the field of life sciences, in fostering collaboration between Taiwan and Texas in the field of biomedical science!

⭐Topic I: From Lab to Clinic: Cancer Therapies Redifined

On day one, we are delighted to have Dr. Pin-Chuan (PC) Chen, Director of the Science and Technology Division at TECO in Houston, share his experiences as a faculty member in Taiwan and the important aspect of interdisciplinary research. This includes his research in the application of microfabrication in surgical simulators and 3D printing in drug testing platforms. Dr. Dung-Fang Lee from UTHealth Houston will also present his latest research on patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), including the translational research platform for exploring the role of p53 mutations in cancer. The next panel, Dr. Yuan-Hung Lo from MD Anderson Cancer Center will share how he designed groundbreaking ARID1A-deficient 3D organoid models and utilized CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing to study the mechanisms of gastrointestinal cancers. 


⭐Topic II: Bridging the Gap: Taiwanese Professionals in US Biotech Navigating Cross-Functional Communication

For Topic II, we have invited three accomplished industry professionals with doctoral degrees to share their diverse career paths. Dr. Carol Chuang, a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) at Eli Lilly and Company, will introduce how the Medical Affairs department serves as a crucial bridge between pharmaceutical companies and hospitals. Dr. Min-Shan Chen, Business Development Director at Crown Bioscience, will delve into the pivotal role Contract Research Organizations (CROs) play in the biotechnology industry, as well as the significance of the Business Development department in facilitating collaborations between companies. Dr. Shin-Cheng Tzeng, serving as R&D Principal Scientist at C2N Diagnostic, will present how he utilizes mass spectrometry-based biomarker analysis techniques to advance the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease, and how his expertise captivates the attention of biotech research and development companies.

Eric Peng, the host of "美國生技藥廠咖啡廳", will also share his career path and life experiences in becoming a leader in 美國生技藥廠咖啡廳.
